Granite Kitchen Sink

Everything But The Kitchen Sink

I have often wondered about that time worn phrase “everything but the kitchen sink.”  To me, that is a self negating phrase because no kitchen is a kitchen without a double Kohler sink and Kohler faucets.  Of course an American Standard sink is just as useful and sturdy, I just happen to be partial to Kohler products.  At any rate, I feel that the kitchen sink is the most important area in my kitchen.  If it is too small my cooking suffers as a consequence.  By the time I rearrange all the cups and glasses my family graciously deposited there to make room for rinsing my vegetables or draining my pasta I might as well go out to eat and let someone else do the dishes.  (Hmmm, that’s not a bad thought!)  If you are buying a new home or redecorating the one you have please pay special attention to your kitchen sink.  You will be sorry if you don’t.  Trust me on this.

Step By Step Guide On How To Install A Kitchen Sink

Same Goes For Bathroom Sinks

I guess the same could be said of your bathroom sink.  Have you ever noticed that whenever you want to wash your hands or brush your teeth you need to shove everyone else’s “stuff” out of the way?  And if you have an older home with an old fashioned porcelain sink cleaning it can be a royal pain.  That’s why I love a trendy vessel sink.  There are no corners for any grime to get trapped in and cleaning is a breeze.  With kids in the house, cleaning is a never ending chore.  If you choose the right sink you can have it built into a cabinet or vanity that can house all those “things” your kids leave lying around in the basin.

The Bottom Line On Kitchen Sinks

My laundry room would be useless without a utility sink.  Not only do I leave cleaning rags and whites soaking in bleach from time to time, but I have a nice deep basin where I can fill and change my mop bucket as well.   Our pet poodle gets her weekly bath in the utility sink and muddy canvas tennis shoes are rinsed off before being thrown in the washer.  Thank goodness I have a laundry room and not a laundry closet in the hall like so many homes do.  I would be lost without that utility sink.

That’s why I never understood “everything but the kitchen sink.”  Who cares about the “everything” – you can keep it, just leave my kitchen sink alone if you want to eat again!
