Drawer Pulls

Drawer pulls are usually overlooked, unless there’s something really wrong with them. Then of course, they’re all that you can see if you look around your house, your living room, whatever room you have drawer pulls in. If you don’t believe me, shut your eyes and mentally describe the ones in your kitchen. Now look at them. How good was your description?

As a matter of fact, drawer pulls can really change the look of your place. Look at the ones in your kitchen. Now imagine if they were bigger or smaller, or a different color, and try to get a good visual sense of what the drawers would look like. You can change the look of an entire room with a simple change in the look of your drawers. Some people like amusing knobs, some people like them in classic, elegant, historical, or traditional styles.

There are a bunch of choices within many other choices. For instance if you want to go with a traditional look, satin nickel and oil-rubbed bronze are top quality looks.  Some people like flamboyant geometric designs for their drawer pulls, the only problem with these is that if they’re too dramatic, they can become dated fairly quickly. And one day, in four or five years time, you’ll take a look at them and think, “What was in my mind to choose those silly looking things?”

Drawer pulls might be treated like poor relations in your household family of furnishings, but if you don’t take care of the small things, they really can offset all the expensive furniture that you have. If you look around and see cheap, loose and rusted pulls, it can certainly take away from the expensive, elegant, beautiful expensive butcher block island you might have in your kitchen, to use an example.

If you already have drawer pulls that you like, you should take care of them. It doesn’t take much effort to tighten them up, and one of the problems that they do have is if they’re used a lot, yanked, twisted, and bumped into, they can get loose. And when they get loose, what happens is, it weakens the whole drawer. This could actually damage the attachment area where they are screwed into your drawers.

There are fun things you can do with drawer pulls too. For instance, if you have an old piece of furniture, it could be a night table, an end table, a small chest of drawers, or a roll top desk even, and it needs a little sprucing up. A good scrub down and polish up and replacement of all the drawer pulls can make it look brand new again. It can give it a new life, a new personality, and a new beginning.
